  • "Adam: Just wanted to let you know I followed your advice and purchased a set of Meyer jacks for the 210. In fact I drove to Centreville Michigan today and picked them up. Not what I expected...Small warehouse with the owners house serving as the office/house in the middle of no-where Michigan. The owner must be in his 80's since he said he founded the company in 1945, very nice man. Got the jacks home and set them up. Wow what a nice set! Glad I listened to you! Saved $400 by driving 400 miles to pick them up myself, $1480.00 out the door from Wag Aero. Anyway thanks for taking time to guide me through the process."
    - Best wishes, Jon Schade  1/31/2006
    Dear Mr. Schade,

I thought I had written an article on this subject, but it is nowhere to be found. So, here goes ... Yes, Meyers Jacks are expensive. Meyers do very well to allow work on several brands of aircraft, particularily well for long-wing birds. Meyers do work well for Cessnas, I've used Meyers all my aviation maintnenance life and own a set. BUT, Meyers still allow the aircraft to sway (undesireably) while the Cessna aircraft is up on jacks. I'm 225 lbs and have confidence in my tools and ability to work in the aircraft while it is up on my jacks. I still get nervous, but ........... You'll find that the "beefer" jack base and foundation = the better, and the less the high-wing aircraft will sway with these types of heavier jacks. Understand that the aircraft swaying on the jacks comes with the "maintenance territory". Some jacks allow more sway movement than others. You'll get what you pay for when it comes to these tools. The best set of jacks I ever used on a single-engine Cessna had a 6" ram, supported by a 5 and a half foot long barrel. The barrel was then supported by frame and structure that covered a four foot base. I think these jacks were used on commuter airliner planes. I can't imgine what those jacks cost. Are there many shops you can visit to see what they use? ( just to get ideas?) Hope this helps.

  • "Adam,
It was great to meet you. Thanks for all your patient instruction and sharing your knowledge. The plane seemed to run a lot better on the way home. I sent the oil for analysis today; I'll be very interested in the results. Thanks again, I look forward to the annual."
    - Regards, Todd 10/2008

  • "Hi Adam,
Thank you again for your time and attention with 2208R.  We had a quick, beautiful ride home and are looking forward to the fixes that are necessary."
    - Chris & Kathleen Snow 03/2009

  • "Adam,
Thanks for your help on the service clinic on the 10th (you bled the left brake and fixed that tail lamp).
To show my appreciation, here is a new (extra) Grimes lamp with a silver paint coating on the sides and the standard clear lamp as well.  Sorry, I didn’t realize how expensive these silvered lamps are."
    - Thanks Again, Robert, N86TE 05/2009

  • "Adam,
The plane seems about the same with full tanks however it may be a little better on the right wing heavy. I will have the vent tube moved up.  Thanks for staying late and doing what it took to take the measurements. I learned a lot."
    - Regards, Fred 07/2009

  • "Hey Adam,
Just wanted to say thanks again on a great and expedient job.  I really wish I could have flown up there with the plane and learned a little bit but, I guess I’ll have my chance on the upcoming annual!"
    - Thanks Again, Mike Massa 06/2009

  • "Adam,
The rigging you did for 812PL was a big success and I am quite grateful.  Thank you so much for finding the jacket!  I'll be happy to reimburse you for the shipping."
    - Best regards, Kevin Moore 09/2009

  • "Adam,
Seriously, you have always exceeded my expectations when working on 76S and been a good friend who I always  enjoyed catching up with on my Santa Maria Trips to Vandenberg....I am sure you will be sucessful in your new "adventure" and am looking forward to hearing about the new digs. Thanks again for your professional service of my aircraft and great friend."
    - Dick McClay N5276S 09/2009

  • "Adam,
Enclosed, please find a check for the "FAA Form 337 Field Approval, you were able to obtain."  I felt a hand-written letter was warranted for all of your good work and help with this project!  Thanks Again.  I will be in touch and let you know how everything turns out!  There could be more "mods/alterations" in the future. :)"
    - Cliff Davis 10/2009

  • "The flight back went fine, and the "control yokes" stayed centered up; I am very happy with it now. No "other" stories to tell, but thanks very much again for your high-quality and fast work."
    - Mike Hoke 2/08

  • "Adam. . . Good luck with [your] move; glad to see you are still @ Santa Maria. Rigging my C205 was money well spent as the handling and ease of trim are much improved!!! Thanks again. . ."
    - Adrien Favareille  3/17/07

  • "Adam Halop rigged my 175 (about 1999) when he was with Aero West in Santa Maria. He knows what he is doing!"
    - Steven White  1/16/06

  • "Adam rigged my plane at SMX and he did a really fine job! That's to be expected of course since he teaches it. What was really great to my thinking was he involved me in the process and I learned a lot about my plane.
    • It took about 4-5 hours. I brought it in the afternoon before, had it hangared, and Adam was able to get to it first thing in the AM. After it was checked out, I was flying back home by mid afternoon.
    • I can't speak too highly of the experience, and Adam.
    • Having the rigging done made flying 8390X a much more relaxed experience. Much more "Hands Off" flying.
    • Adam’s a champ of a guy."
    - Lee Siegel 12/16/05

  • "I certainly would agree with everything Lee said. Adam knows his stuff and is also a great guy."
    - Ernie Connor

  • "I had my 210 rigged by Adam yesterday. Hey Adam, the plane flies straight and 4 knots faster. Thanks so much."
    - Matt Evans 1/05/06

  • "I think Adam is top notch. I was very impressed with him, …I had a great time, learned a lot, and have a much better airplane now."
    - Dan Downing 12/21/05

  • "Adam rigged my bird to perfection. Taught me that you can never own enough LPS-1."
    - Dave Brown 12/18/05

  • "I took the Rigging course last year in Santa Maria. Adam was very impressive in his knowledge."
    - Steve Balla 8/01/05

  • "You should think about stopping in Santa Maria one of these days and have Adam Halop do it himself. It doesn't cost much or take very long, and certainly helped my airplane fly straighter and probably faster. At least now I know the flight controls are rigged according to book specs!"
    - Mike Sutton 4/23/05

  • "Adam Halop rigged my plane in Santa Maria, and it pretty much makes book speed."
    - Tim Homerding 03/03/04

  • "I'm one of the lucky people who had his plane rigged by Adam.  He rigged my 172 about a year ago. It was a great experience working with him. What a great improvement in my plane! Anytime someone asks about rigging, I refer Adam as the best."

  • "I did see a difference after the rigging. It now flies level and gained about 4 knots."

  • "Adam Halop, in Santa Maria, performs dynamic prop balancing for a reasonable fee. I believe Adam uses the MicroVib prop balancing system made by DSS. Adam balanced my prop last year and reduced the initial vibration reading of 0.262 down to 0.064 in three runs. He has used this equipment a lot and published the results in an issue of a Cessna magazine."
